Most dogs will experience worm problems more than once in their whole lifetime.

Worms in dogs are so often that it’s recommended by many vets around the world we, pet owners, give regularly deworming medicine to our pooches.

Deworming is a process when the medication kills the worms that are inside your dog. In a short period of time, it eliminates them all.

We will guide you through the best dewormers for dogs for the most common types of worms.

Types Of Worms A Dog Can Get

Here is a list of intestinal worms in dogs that are very common:

Roundworms are visible to the naked eye with a length of 3-5 inches and look like spaghetti. They do not cause any major illness but still can make your dog very ill.

Whipworms are smaller than roundworms like ¼” long. They can cause severe damage to the cecum and colon and they are considered one of the most harmful worms.

Hookworms are not visible to the naked eye because they are the smallest type. They can cause life-threatening anemia to dogs of every age, especially in puppies.

Tapeworms can grow to 8 inches in length and look like rice grains on your dogs’ fur;

The most dangerous type of worm is heartworm. Heartworm isn’t an intestinal type of worm. It can get to your dog through mosquito bites. Heartworms can grow and multiply fast in your dog’s heart. They can cause lung and organ diseases.

If left untreated, they can cause a lot of damage to the dog’s heart.
